Your hair and dress in ribbons.

Babycakes.

Third Advent. Back in the north after last weekend's shenanigans back in Blighty. Hence the Bombadier variant above, heh heh.
A lot of snow, still, despite the fact that it went from -10 or more below up to plus degrees and rain on Friday night. At least in the centre of the city, where I was to be found missing a bus and dragging my sorry ass through the middle of the rainstorm and four-inch deep melting snow-slush at stupid o'clock in the morning. Bah. The things you do for beer, eh? Najs. It's been a while.
Anyhoo, now business as usual is the order of the day. It's 'taters out there.
Everything changes, everything stays the same...

Put on your blindfold

...and a dress that's tight

Hmmm. Two blog entries in a month. I have been remiss in my duties. Slap my wrists.
An absolutely marvellous week Spurs-wise: an away win at the Gooners (after being 2-0 down at half-time) last weekend, followed by a convincing mid-week win sealing progression to the next round of the Champions League (with a match to spare, no less) and a 2-1 home win against Liverpool a short while ago. Ah...
First Advent, so candles/fires have been lit and decoration thingies put up. Lots of plants bought today. A rug too - for the living room. The baby fishies have now been integrated into the larger bowl. One seems to be missing in action, but the other four have survived so far. Bless.
A short working week coming up - a flight to dear old Blighty next Thursday for a wedding. Which is nice. Note to self: shave your hair off.

It will be August in the morning

October nears its end. It's been a nice month, weather-wise, until this last week when the six-degrees-and-rain syndrome kicked in.
Halloween tomorrow. Spurs away to Man. Utd in a couple of hours. Time to put this particular bogey to rest. As long as the ref doesn't suffer temporary blindness in the case of any obvious Tottenham goals/penalty shouts as has happened in recent years.
Winter wheels on the car - it's gonna be a cold one apparently. I think it's probably for the best if I buy myself a nice pair of new boots, eh?
Right, footy soon. Beer now. Ah...

I think it's special

...what's behind your back

Mmmmmmm.

You know I dreamed about you

...for twenty-nine years before I saw you

October.
I don't do ill, which makes my current state of health a little irritating. Last week's gut-rot has given way to sincere lethargy and a feeling of all-over achiness. Bleh.
A tremendous last week for the mighty Spurs. First home-win ever in the Champions League followed by a "battling" home win in the (regular-flavoured) League against Villa. The boy Van der Vaart playing starring roles in both matches.
Dear Diary, I can't be assed to write any more tonight so I'm going to bed. Perchance to dream, assuming I can actually get any napper.

I am human and I need to be loved

...just like everyone else does

September is nearly over.
Champions League week this week. We'll have to do a little better than a 1-0 defeat at West Ham, eh? Luckily, the blow was softened somewhat by the Gooners' abject defeat at home to West Brom, mohaha. The boy Van der Vaart looks a bit special. Very composed on the ball. Classy.
I have joined another gym. It's different, but that's life innit? Either way, I need to cut down on my pork life, so it's back to it.
Buns of steel. Blue steel. Unstoppable.
Now, where did I put my crisps...?

La Moz rules.

Apparently, I'm greying a little at the temples. Poppycock. Don't believe a word of it...

You'll close your eyes and see me

Another week of glorious sunshine for the most part. I likes it.
Little Jefoe scored a tremendous hat-trick in the first match of the European Championship qualifiers as England rediscovered their mojo. Amazing the difference having a goalkeeper that saves the odd shot (rather than nothing at all, ever) makes too. Wales, however, lost to Montenegro. Serious. Bah. On the negative side it seems Dawson injured himself - not ideal with the Champions League beginning soon.
I'm currently listening to the new Manics, Feeder and Brandon Flowers albums. Two groups of clarts and a Las Vegan (is that what they're called?) Mormon.
The clement spell is due to last a few more days, if forecasts are to be believed. Sun. Let's go outside...

Dishwater blonde, tall and fine

...she got a lot of tips

Today was one of the good days.
A beautiful late summer's day (after the early-morning mist had burned off) and working from home. There won't be many more days like this this year. Already a chill in the air helt plötsligt.
Back to earth with a dull plop for Spurs - after scaling the heady heights of Champions League qualification for the first time mid-week, a miserable 1-0 defeat at the hands of Wigan. At home. After last year's 9-1 win in the same fixture. It's a funny ol' game, innit?
Tonight I had a barbecue and drank beer. Isn't it?

Never quite said what I wanted to say to you

...never quite managed the words to explain to you

Sunday. Sunny. Two weeks into the new Premier League season and so far, so good. Despite having a team ravaged by injury after the mid-week Champions League play-off nightmare at Young Boys (I ask you...) and their plastic pitch, the mighty Spurs managed a creditable away win at Stoke. Two goals - the second a cracking volley - from the Welsh wizard.

A must-win return leg at the Lane beckons this Wednesday. So near...
I've also been back at work two weeks. Like I've never been away. Nothing changes - everything is the same. It was ever thus.
I suppose I should make the most of the nice weather while it's still here. The lake temperature is still "bathable" but it won't last forever and there hasn't been a great deal of sunshine this week. The grass also needs cutting and it needs to be done during one of the brief non-rainy periods. Bah.

And if one day

...you should see me in the crowd

The summer holidays draw inevitably to their close. Boo.
Back from dear old Blighty and it's taken four days for the sun to show its face here after apparently being scorchio all the time I was away. Still, I'd better just make the most of it now before the long haul of work begins again, eh? Back in the saddle again and all that.
Yesterday Joel and Phillip were mascots for the IFK v Kalmar match. Bless. Also, spot the devilishly attractive feller in the black t-shirt in the crowd in the second picture, eagle-eyed viewers. Snigger.
Four weeks of constant eating and drinking have taken their toll. Must...exercise. Or buy bigger clothes.
Goodbye Alex "Hurricane" Higgins. My grandmother was very fond of you. King of the green baize. We like snooker. It's always the bad lads, eh?
Currently reading: Stephen King's "Under The Dome" (and probably will be for a little while longer as it's enormous).

Daisy Dukes, bikinis on top

Halfway through the British Tour and a few days of relative calm in Robin 'ood country after having taken in, variously, Llanhennock, Cardiff, the Peak District and Alton Towers.
I'd never really seen much of the Peak District before but on a sunny summer's day it really is quite breathtaking. Lovely.
The weather has been a bit hit-or-miss but nothing too horrendous.
Everything has changed in my absence of course. I really like all the changes in Cardiff. A completely new shopping/pedestrianised area has sprung up since my last visit. The Hayes has been altered beyond recognition almost, but it looks good. The whole balance of the city has shifted, as always happens - areas that were once in the centre of things have now moved to the outskirts, with shops moving out to the new areas.
It's nice to travel around, remembering what I miss about my old fatherland. Visits to supermarkets are full of exciting new things to buy...
Now, if only I can stop eating/drinking continuously...

I've a feeling you should go and see a doctor...if you haven't then you know you really oughtta

Today was one of the good days.
Beautiful and sunny. This morning was a question of cutting the lawn, getting slightly hot and bothered, diving into the lake, going back to grass-cutting, swimming and so forth.
Days like these can be numbered on one or several hands during the year. Lovely.
The smell of the lake as you come up for air after diving in is a very special thing, felt more than smelt.
Actually managed a lie-in of sorts too - fancy that.
Quarter finals of the World Cup. A truly magnificent display from the Germans utterly destroyed the much-vaunted Argentinians. Impossible not to admire.
Five weeks r'n'r coming up. Bring it!

I'm just looking...

World Cup fever has been and (nearly) gone. England have started miserably with two draws against the minnows of the group. Arguably the toughest match left and nothing less than a win is required/demanded. Of course the newspapers have been vitriolic but on the other hand even the mighty Spaniards lost their first match, so let's all calm down, eh? Eh?
I have joined the ranks of the Androids telephone-wise. Everything is a little more clumsy than my iPhone but so far so good. Maybe I should even stick with this telephone for a while. Pigs might fly, mohaha.
Two more working weeks before the summer break.
Come on England! Shit or bust time. JeFoe needs more time to work his magic, let's just hope he gets it. It's all over before its time, otherwise. Boo.

She's so high

...I want to crawl all over her

Summery-ness has arrived and not a moment too soon, either.
Since last I blogged, dear readers, I have had a landmark birthday. I'm happy to report, however, that there is life in the old dog yet. Nothing appears to have fallen off in the meantime, so I shall carry on as normal for as long as I'm able, heh heh.
The World Cup is a couple of weeks away and I'm looking forward to it immensely. As I am to the trip to Blighty that has been booked this last week. It's been way too long. The jaunt will encompass the north of England, south Wales and a few stops in between. Beer, quite possibly, will be consumed.
This week I have been mostly wearing...no socks.

My heart, a silent violin

...at least you made me tune it in the end

Hmmm. It's been a while.
Since last I blogged, Spurs sealed fourth place in the Premier League (and Champions League qualification) with one game to spare via an impressive win at Man. City. There was even an outside shot at third spot - at the expense of the Gooners - but I shall gloss over the last day of the season. Either way, it was a magnificent campaign and next season is something to look forward to. Truly.
This was the second short (although still mind-numbingly boring) working week in a row for me, with the "squeeze-day" and Bank Holiday and all.
This weekend has been spent on Käringön and in Fiskebäckskil. Champagne and strawberries on the rocks by the sea in the sunshine. Ah. Strawberries and sunlight - what's not to like about that? It'll soon be summer, eh?
Mmmm...violins.

Sunday, May 02, 2010

Keep going...

Check out this wine label, mohaha. It'd never be allowed these days, eh? Loosely translated, the name of the wine is "Bend over, I'll smack your arse". Erm, possibly.
I started off this beautiful, bright, sunny day with a run. Amazingly. All was going swimmingly until with about a hundred metres left, I felt a pull in my calf. I'm like the (fat) Ledley King of weekend runners. Maybe I should also not train between every "match"? Oh, wait, that's exactly what I do now...hmmm.
Talking of which, the Mighty Spurs go into the last week of the season in the Champions League places. The small matter of a match against fifth-placed Man. Shitty (and their millions of pounds) on Wednesday now looms large. Avoiding defeat there should be enough, but a win would seal it there and then before the final game of the season. Oh, the drama!
Today, I snoozed in the sunshine, flat on my back. Najs.

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Well I'm not superstitious

...but I can't help touching wood

Uh-Uh! Vill ha.
A slightly less spectacular weekend for the mighty Spurs, but fourth place is still on at the moment. Conceding two penalties at Old Trafford is never going to help the cause especially. It's going down to the wire and no mistake.
Today I have mostly been outside (and slightly hungover). Which is nice. The outside part, obviously, not the slight (very slight) "tenderness of head" associated with last night's drinking. Good job I'm a professional, eh? Today's run can wait until another day.
The temperature seems finally to have settled into double-figures - at least during the days. I still have to scrape the windscreen most mornings, though. Summerwheels are on the motor too. Much better. Have I mentioned that before? Ahem.

If your eyes are wanting all you see

...then I think I'll name you after me

A sunny Sunday afternoon in April. Spurs rounded off a spectacular week of football (last Sunday's loss in the Cup notwithstanding) by deservedly beating Chelsea again yesterday, a few short days after the win against the Gooners. A magnificent display and with just a few matches left we're in the Champions League places still. Masters of our own destiny. Come on!
The dawn of a new era possibly. Just like old times.
It's nice to reminisce - think back to all the good times...
